If you are trying unsuccessfully to access Yahoo! Courier this morning, you are certainly not alone. The hugely popular email service appears to be having major issues with hundreds of reports that its users can’t read, reply, send or open new emails. However, one of the biggest issues seems to be that users see their full inbox but then get an error saying “We couldn’t load this message” when trying to verify an individual email. The gremlins first appeared around 9:30am with the frustrating issues still ongoing.
In fact, Down Detector – which monitors outages around the world – actually shows a steady increase in reports with around 1,500 per minute indicated by its graph. Speaking on his forum page a Yahoo! user named Elaine said: “Can see my emails but can’t open or delete them – haven’t tried sending any yet.” While another named Julian added: “Unable to access Yahoo emails this morning.”
Along with reports on Down Detector, Yahoo! users also flocked to social media to vent their frustrations. Speaking on Twitter, an angry user named Sayan said, “Is @yahoomail down? I’ve been trying to send emails for 2 hours.. no email showing under the outbox. this.”
Another, named Ritesh, tweeted: “Is there a problem or server down #Yahoomail since morning unable to access anything in Yahoo Mail.”
There is no word on what is causing the problems but Yahoo! has now confirmed that they have spotted the issue and are working on a fix.
In a statement, Yahoo! said, “Some users may be experiencing issues with Yahoo Mail. We are aware of this issue and are working to resolve it as soon as possible.”
We’ll bring you more updates as they happen.
