Google chrome

Open a new Google Chrome tab as “chrome: // new-tab-page-third-party /”

So about a week ago and then again today Chrome did this weird thing where when I open a new tab (the search engine used in the address bar is Bing), instead of having the image and the search bar and the cursor in the url box, i get a blank white page with my top 8 websites listed and “chrome: // new-tab-page-third-party /” in it URL -> shown in image 1

And it’s not just that. When I search on google the layout is also very different -> Shown in image 2
New tab number 2.png 411.67 KB

Now when I change my default search engine to google, the new tab issue goes away, but the google search page still looks weird. And there are other websites that are also slightly different in layout like facebook and are the ones that I noticed.

My computer is up to date and I have verified that Chrome is up to date -> shown in picture 3

I am currently running a Malwarebytes scan but I don’t think it will find anything.

The last time this happened I was able to restart my computer and so far everything has been fine. Restarting today didn’t solve anything. Last time was only on my desktop, but today is also on my laptop (also Windows 10 and they are synced too).

I would really like to solve this problem because I find it very annoying. If you need more information I’ll be happy to share.

Thank you very much!

Malwarebytes found nothing, as suspicious. CORN! After checking my computer for updates it found 1 and now everything looks normal. The update was as follows: 10-version-2004-windows-server-version-2004-windows-10-version-20h2-windows-server-version-20h2-and-windows-version-21h1-48adc339-e8ad-496b-b48d-d18ed227b0aa

Now would that have affected the things I mentioned or did things go back to normal to line up with this update / restart?
