How to turn off SafeSearch on Google, Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo

When SafeSearch is enabled, your search engines block what they consider mature content from your search results. If you want to include these results in your searches, you will need to turn off SafeSearch first. Here’s how.

How to turn off SafeSearch on Google

AT turn off SafeSearch on Google on your desktop, just open Google search and go to Settings> Search settings> SafeSearch filters. There you can uncheck “Enable SafeSearch”.

How to turn off SafeSearch on Bing

If you use Bing as your search engine, it is easy to deactivate SafeSearch on this engine on desktop and mobile.

Disable Bing SafeSearch on the desktop

On your Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook desktop computer, open a web browser and launch the Bing site. In the upper right corner of Bing, click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines).

In the menu that opens, click on “SafeSearch”.

To select "Secure search" in the Bing menu.

You will see a “Search” page. Here, in the “SafeSearch” section, enable the “Off” option. This disables SafeSearch on Bing for you.

If you do not want to completely disable SafeSearch, but prefer to change its effect, use the “Moderate” or “Strict” options for SafeSearch.

To select "Deactivated" for "Safe search."

To save your changes, in the menu that appears at the bottom of your screen, click on “Save”.

Click on "To safeguard" in the prompt.

Disable Bing SafeSearch on mobile

On your Android, iPhone, or iPad, launch a web browser and open the Bing site. In the top right corner of the site, tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines).

Tap the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of Bing.

In the menu that opens, select “SafeSearch”.

To choose "Secure search" in the Bing menu.

On the “Search” page, in the “SafeSearch” section, enable the “Disabled” option. This removes filtering from SafeSearch.

Save your changes by pressing “Save” in the menu that opens.

How to turn off SafeSearch on Yahoo

Unlike other search engines, on Yahoo you need to do a search first and then deactivate SafeSearch.

Disable Yahoo SafeSearch on Desktop

On your Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, open a web browser and navigate to Yahoo site. On the site, click the search box, type a query, and press Enter.

Type a query in the search box and hit enter on Yahoo.

On the search results page, in the upper right corner, click “Yahoo Sites” (a square made up of nine dots).

Click it "Yahoo sites" menu.

At the bottom of the “Yahoo Sites” menu, click “Settings.”

To select "Settings" from "Yahoo sites" menu.

You will see a “Search Preferences” page. Here, next to “SafeSearch” click on the drop-down menu.

Click it "Secure search" scrolling menu.

Choose “Disabled” from the drop-down menu to disable SafeSearch.

To select "Deactivated" in the "Secure search" scrolling menu.

Save your changes by scrolling down the page and clicking “Save” at the bottom.

Click on "To safeguard" on the "Search preferences" page.

Enjoy more results in your Yahoo searches in the future.

Disable Yahoo SafeSearch on mobile

On an iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone, open a web browser and launch the Yahoo site. At the top of the site, tap the search box and enter a query. Then press Enter.

Enter a query and hit enter on Yahoo.

Scroll down the search results page. There, tap “Settings”.

Yahoo will open a “Search Preferences” page. On this page, in the “SafeSearch” section, tap the drop-down menu.

Press the "Secure search" scrolling menu.

Select “Disabled” from the menu.

Scroll down on the “Search Preferences” page, and there, tap “Save.”

You will see a prompt stating that you must agree to Yahoo’s terms to deactivate SafeSearch. If you agree, press “I agree”.

Yahoo will return you to your search results with SafeSearch turned off. You are ready.

How to turn off SafeSearch on DuckDuckGo

Like other search engines, DuckDuckGo also comes with the SafeSearch filter. You can turn off this filter quite easily from the settings page.

Disable DuckDuckGo SafeSearch o Desktop

On your Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, open your favorite web browser and navigate to the DuckDuck Go site. In the upper right corner of the site, click on the three horizontal lines.

In the “Settings” menu that opens, at the top, click on “All settings”.

To select "All settings" in the "Settings" menu.

On the “All Settings” page, at the top, click the “General” tab.

Scroll down to the “General” tab to the “Safe Search” section. Here, click on the drop-down menu and choose “Disabled”.

To select "Deactivated" from "Secure search" scrolling menu.

Scroll to the bottom of your page, and at the bottom, select “Save and Exit.”

To select "Save and exit."

SafeSearch is now disabled on DuckDuckGo.

Disable DuckDuckGo SafeSearch on mobile

On your portable device, open a web browser and launch the DuckDuck Go site. In the top left corner of the site, tap on the three horizontal lines.

In the menu that opens, tap “All settings”.

Save your changes by scrolling down the page and pressing “Save and Exit” there.
