Recover Deleted Yahoo Emails from Deleted Items on Desktop

When an email is deleted, Yahoo moves it to the “Deleted Items” folder instead of permanently deleting it. Your deleted email may still be available in this folder, and if so, you can restore it to your inbox.

To do this, first launch a web browser on your device and open Yahoo Mail. Sign in to your Yahoo account if you haven’t already.

On Yahoo’s mail interface, on the left sidebar, click “Deleted Items”.

Select "Deleted Items" in the left sidebar.

In the right pane, you will see all your deleted emails. Here, click on the email you want to restore.

Select the email to retrieve.

When your email opens, at the top of the email, click “Restore to Inbox”.

Select "Restore to Inbox" at the top.

And Yahoo will move the selected email back to your inbox. Your email recovery is complete.

Ask Yahoo to restore your deleted emails

If you can’t find your deleted email in “Deleted Items” or “Trash”, it went from there too. In this case, you cannot restore your email yourself, but you can ask Yahoo to restore your email backup. This method works on both desktop and mobile.

In most cases, Yahoo can restore emails that have disappeared within the last 7 days. There is no guarantee that your email will be recovered, but you can at least try.

To get started, launch your favorite web browser and navigate to Yahoo’s email recovery page. On the page, click “Send a restore request”.

Select the "Submit a restore request" button.

If you haven’t already, sign in to your Yahoo email account and continue.

Once logged in, Yahoo will display an “Email a Specialist” page. Here, complete the recovery form as follows to potentially recover your permanently deleted email:

  • Describe the problem: Select how your email was deleted using this drop-down menu.
  • When was the last time you saw missing messages: Select the time when you last saw your missing email.
  • YahooID: Enter your Yahoo email address.
  • Email address you have access to: Enter an alternate email address where Yahoo can contact you.

Confirm the captcha, then click “Create request”.

Ask Yahoo to help you recover deleted emails.

Yahoo will try to restore a backup of your emails and possibly help you find the deleted email. In the meantime, all you can do is wait for a confirmation email from Yahoo.
