How to Delete History on Google Chrome

Google Chrome is a very useful and convenient browser. That said, it also tracks your browser history across all devices, unless you’re in incognito mode. This can be a good thing; for example, if you start looking for something on your computer and then need to leave, you can continue where you left off on your smartphone. That said, there are always times when you might just want to delete your history. Whatever the case, let’s see how to delete your history on Google Chrome.

THE SHORT ANSWER

To clear your Chrome history on Android, open Chrome and tap the top button. Faucet Story > Clear browsing data. Select the Navigation history check box, then press Erase data.

To clear your Chrome history on iOS, open Chrome and select the icon ᐧᐧᐧ bottom right button. Faucet Story > Clear browsing data. Select Navigation Storythen press Clear browsing data.

To clear your Chrome from the desktop, open Chrome and click the button at the top right. Click on Story > Clear browsing data. Select Navigation history > Erase data.

In Clear browsing data, you can clear your browsing history and more. You can specify how far back you want to go in terms of what you want to erase. You can choose the Last hour, Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, last 4 weeksWhere All the time.

Under the Basic tab, found at the top, you have three options:

  • Navigation historywhich “clears the history of all synced devices”.
  • Cookies and site datawhich “signs you out of most sites”, but does not sign you out of your Google Account.
  • Cached images and files, which, if you couldn’t guess, involves clearing Google Chrome‘s cache. This frees up space, although it warns that “some sites may load slower on your next visit”.

Under the Advanced you can choose to clear three other things:

  • Saved passwords
  • Autofill form data
  • Site settings

You can choose these options and put a check mark next to them to clear them. When you have selected everything you want to delete, press the key. Erase data button in the lower right corner.

How to Delete Your Chrome History (iPhone)

Clearing your Google Chrome browsing history on iOS is also very simple. Select the ᐧᐧᐧ button in the lower right corner.

In the History tab, you will find a Clear browsing data bottom left button. Select this.

The last step is to complete the Clear browsing data filter. Choose the Time interval for which you want to delete your browsing history. You can select the Last hour, Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, last 4 weeksWhere All the time.

Select what you want to clear for the time range you selected. Options include:

  • Navigation history
  • Cookies, site data
  • Cached images and files
  • Saved passwords
  • Autofill data

When you have finished selecting your Time interval and whatever you want to delete, select the Clear browsing data button at the bottom. You will have an additional chance to undo after pressing it; select Clear browsing data once more to finish clearing your selections.

How to Delete Google Chrome History (Desktop)

Open Google Chrome on your PC or Mac and click on the button in the upper right corner next to your profile picture.

Then go down to Story and open it in full screen by clicking on the tab. Alternatively, if you are a PC user, you can select CTRL+H in Google Chrome to access your Story page. If you are a Mac user, you can choose ⌘ Command + Y in Google Chrome.

On the Story page, you will see your complete browsing history. Click on Clear browsing data on the left side to continue.

Finally, you will be taken to Clear browsing data filter. Enter the Time interval for which you want to delete your Google Chrome browsing history. Your options include the Last hour, Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, last 4 weeksand All the time.

Then select what you want to erase. On the Basic tab, you can erase Navigation history, Cookies and other site dataand Cached images and files. On the Advanced tab, you can also erase Passwords and other login data, Autofill form data, Site settingsand Hosted Application Data.

The most important thing here is that you have at least Navigation history checked, because your main goal is to clear your browsing history.

Yes. To do this, go to your Google Account and click on the Data & Privacy tab on the left. Scroll down to History settings, then select My activity. You can see all of your web activity here.

On a computer, start typing what you want to search for. If a URL appears that you don’t want, hover your mouse over it and click the x button on the far right to remove the suggestion. Alternatively, and this also works for non-URL suggestions, you can hover over anything that appears in the top bar, then press Shift+Del.

Deleting your browsing history is not quite the same as deleting cookies or deleting the history stored by websites. For example, deleting your Chrome history doesn’t affect YouTube when you’re signed in; you will need to delete your YouTube story separately.
