New updates are added at the bottom of this story…….
The original story (published July 25, 2022) follows:
Launched in 2008 when the internet was still in its infancy, Google Chrome is one of the most popular web browsers on the planet.
What is interesting is that Chrome only took 7 years to overthrow Internet Explorer and establish its dominance as the most widely used browser in the world.
And with more users accessing the web on mobile devices, it looks like Chrome will comfortably maintain its lead for years to come.
That said, it’s far from perfect, with many recently complaining about bugs and issues like the browser only showing one search result and YouTube lagging after the recent Chrome v103 update.
It seems that the voice search function recognizes the word but does not type any of them into the search bar, which makes it unusable for many.
Generic troubleshooting solutions such as clearing cache and cookies, resetting browser settings, and even reinstalling Chrome do not help to fix the problem.
Chrome “Voice Search” is broken. Voice search only responds when I open the app for the first time. After clicking the microphone, everything seems normal; my words are typed into the search bar as I say them, but the page does not return any results, but instead Chrome acts as if the question was never asked – even the words that were spoken and translated from speech to text in the search prompt is reset to what was there before voice search was initiated.
Google voice search on my desktop suddenly stopped working. The microphone flashes when I speak so he can hear me suddenly stopped responding. It returns to a clear search screen. I checked permissions on Google and Windows 11, no hardware changes and uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, but no luck
Unfortunately, we haven’t come across any official word from Google regarding the broken voice search feature.
We hope they will review user feedback soon and release an update in the next few days that fixes the Chrome voice search not working issue.
Rest assured that we’ll be keeping an eye out for further developments on this and updating this space as we find more information, so be sure to stay tuned.
