Bing now lets you search for local stores

Microsoft Bing now lets you find local stores using the map search for local inventory, or buy online or pick up in-store. We have confirmed to Microsoft that these features are indeed new and are not being re-announced for the holiday season.

You can search for specific stores in Bing or Bing Maps, by category or by product or even by subject.

Microsoft said shoppers can quickly find the items they need nearby, and local merchants benefit from these features by showcasing their products to customers. These local merchants can educate buyers about their product orientation and become go-to options for their specialty products, Microsoft said.

You may be able to get your store’s inventory in local Bing results using product markup and also Bing Places local inventory listings.

Why we care Here’s yet another way to get your store and store inventory in front of Bing researchers. Greater visibility for local traders to local customers can be very important for both the customer and the trader just before the holidays.
